WELCOME to Teaching in Florida
Certification Assistance
for Monroe County
Monroe County Public Schools needs new teachers every year---in all grade levels, in all subjects, and in all schools throughout the Florida Keys.
Our 8300 students are very diverse and eager to learn. Our large cohort of new immigrants brings rich experience from other cultures and speaks many different languages. They are eager to learn from you and draw on your expertise and experiences to reach new heights.
We encourage individuals who are interested in teaching
as a profession to contact us to discuss the certification process. Prospective
teachers are invited to complete
the formal online paperless application for employment at:
https://pats.monroe.k12.fl.us/.
Passport
to Teaching, sponsored by the American Board for Certification
of Teacher Excellence, is now offering
scholarships
for those looking to teach in shortage subject areas.
We are accepting teacher applicants: a) who hold Florida certification, b) teachers holding certificates from other states, and/or c) college graduates with or without teaching experience, but with a strong desire to teach in our district.
The following documents may assist you in determining how to qualify for a Florida teaching certificate:
- Out-of-State Certified Teacher
- Graduate of a Teacher Education Program
- College Graduate of a Non-Education Program
